A dangerously close call with a Metra train was caught on camera. The dashcam video shows a suburban police officer swerving at the last second to avoid being hit after the crossing gates failed to come down in time.
The incident happened at 191st Street and the Rock Island District line, according to a Metra spokeswoman. Inbound train No. 506 was headed to Chicago’s LaSalle Street Station after picking up passengers in Joliet and New Lenox. An electrical short caused the malfunction at the crossing, Metra spokeswoman Katie Dahlstrom said.
