Meet KURATA, The World’s First Robotic Mech Suit

The Kurata cell mech suit is up on the market at for a whopping ¥120,000,000 (more or less $1,000,000) for any budding pilot courageous enough, or bored enough, to procure.

The apparently unreal vehicle/robot hybrid was developed via artist Kogoro Kurata (after whom it is named) and roboticist Wataru Yoshizaki, and constructed via the Japanese corporate Suidobashi Heavy Industry; it’s the real deal.

So what does $1,000,000 worth of mecha purchase you? On this case, a 4 meter tall, 4,500 kg (Four tons) vehicle/robot that’s able to drive at up to 10 km/h (6.2 mph), and freely move its legs, torso, and weapon-equipped arms using 30 hydraulic joints.

The robot can be manually piloted from a control panel positioned within its cockpit or remotely via specialised controller or smartphone app.
