Reports that venomous snakes could turn up in Hurricane Florence flood waters proved true Sunday for a firefighter working near North Carolina’s Topsail Island.
North Topsail Beach firefighter Bradley Thomas Dixon posted a video showing not one, but two cottonmouths wallowing in the muddy flood waters.
The venomous snakes weren’t the only things found floating in the hurricane floodwaters.
With North Carolina being one of the nation’s largest pork producers, heavy waters lifted pig manure from its pits.
In 1999 and 2016, Hurricanes Floyd and Matthew, respectively, brought flood waters that overran a number of pig lagoons.
It is unclear how many people may have been sickened in the aftermath of the storms.
